Siskin Children’s Institute Holds Ceremonies for Two Expansions

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Siskin Children’s Institute will hold two ribbon cutting ceremonies next month to celebrate the expansion of its services for children and families.

The Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce is assisting with arrangements for the ribbon cuttings.

The first ceremony is scheduled for December 1 at 8 a.m. at the Institute’s 1101 Carter Street location in downtown Chattanooga. The event will recognize the Institute’s new healthcare initiative that offers assessment, diagnosis and treatment for children with or at risk for developmental delays and disorders such as autism spectrum conditions, Down syndrome and learning disorders.

The Siskin Children’s Institute -T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital Center for Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics opened in July 2009 at the Institute’s Carter Street location. Led by full-time, triple board certified developmental behavioral pediatrician Dr. Regina Gargus, the center specializes in early identification of disabilities in children ages 6 weeks to 18 years.

The second ceremony will recognize the Siskin Early Learning Center-East Brainerd, the Institute’s second learning center. The event is slated for December 3 at 8 a.m. at the center’s location at 1602 Gunbarrel Road.

The Siskin Early Learning Center-East Brainerd opened in August 2008, allowing the Institute to double the number of children it serves through its education initiative. With the Siskin Early Learning Center-Downtown, the two locations enroll more than 250 children with and without disabilities.
