10/19/10 - October is National Disability Awareness Month
For many years, National Disability Awareness Month has been observed in October. More recently, that observation has been refined further into National Disability Employment Awareness Month. While entrance into the workforce may seem far outside the realm of the Institute’s mission, it really is not. The Institute’s Early Learning Centers and the Center for Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics are busy preparing children with special needs for their next steps in life, preparing them to be involved, contributing members of society. We recognize that, along with the support of their families and friends, we are laying some of the first bricks that make up the foundation of their lives—a weighty responsibility that we fully embrace. Join us in remembering the significance of this month, a celebration of citizens—adults and children—who are differently-abled and who contribute much to our world. |
