11/12/10 - Joe Dan and Kim White to serve as 2011 StarNight co-chairs
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Husband and wife team Joe Dan and Kim White will serve as co-chairs for StarNight 2011, Siskin Children’s Institute’s annual fundraiser that brings a nationally known entertainer to Chattanooga each year to perform for a crowd of more than 1,200. The Whites are StarNight planning committee veterans; they worked as sponsorship chairs for the event several years ago. “We are excited to be part of this great event again this year,” said Joe Dan White. “We know firsthand how important Siskin Children’s Institute is to the community because we have a nephew who benefited from the Institute’s invaluable services.” Mrs. White is president and CEO of River City Company, a private nonprofit focused on downtown economic development. A Chattanooga native, she is active with her alma mater UTC and serves on the UC Foundation, Erlanger board of trustees, Downtown Rotary and Chamber of Commerce. The couple moved to the Scenic City in 2003. “You could say that we are downtown Chattanooga’s biggest ambassadors,” said Kim White. “We not only talk the talk about how fantastic our community is, but we walk the walk—literally—as we live, work and play in central city.” Retired from the concrete/construction industry, Mr. White actively supports numerous causes throughout the community, including Big Brothers/Big Sisters and various homeless initiatives. “Joe Dan and Kim are StarNight planning powerhouses,” said Gerald D. Jensen, Institute CEO and president. “With their dynamic personalities, organizational skills and many community contacts, StarNight 2011 is in excellent hands.” The date and headliner act for StarNight 2011 will be announced in the spring. Visit www.siskin.org/starnight for details about the event as information becomes available.
