12/10/10 - Institute children meet Rossi, the dog with three super legs
Recently, Classroom 10 at the Early Learning Center-Downtown went on a field trip to a children’s book signing. The children met local author Julie Guerry, whose children’s book “The Rossman - A Superhero at Heart” chronicles the life of her dog Rossi who has special needs. Many years ago, Rossi ran away from a neglectful owner and was struck by a car. His severe injuries led to the amputation of one of his front legs. Lucky for him, he was adopted by the Guerry family and has been living a happy, carefree life ever since. He's taught his humans many life lessons about determination, courage and love. At the book event, Julie read the book to the children who then had the chance to meet Rossi and offer him a doggy treat. The children saw firsthand how well Rossi has adapted to his mobility challenges and how he approaches life with courage and heart. Check out the video below of the children giving Rossi a piece of his favorite treat.
