10/18/11 - Institute researcher to deliver keynote at Australia's 2012 Early Intervention conference
Robin McWilliam, the Institute's director of the Center for Child and Family Research, will be one of three keynote speakers at the 2012 Early Childhood Intervention Australia national conference (also named the Asia-Pacific Early Childhood Intervention Conference). The 2012 conference, "Pathways to Participation: Engagement and choice for children and families," brings together international and national experts and local professionals to discuss the implications of significant changes in early childhood development and intervention fields for practitioners, families and their children, including how to translate these changes into practice. Dr. McWilliam's address will discuss effective strategies to facilitate participation and engagement of children and their families in early childhood settings and services. The conference will provide practitioners and families with a forum to gain current knowledge and information on both research and practice to facilitate and support the participation and engagement of children with disabilities and their families in activities and contexts of their choice whether at home, in early childhood settings or in their communities. The conference is scheduled for Aug. 8-10, 2012, in Perth, Western Australia.
