04/12/12 - Both Early Learning Centers receive Tennessee 3 Star Rating
We are pleased to announce that both Siskin Early Learning Centers received their Tennessee 3 Star rating again this year! The state-directed program is based on several distinct evaluation categories, including space and furnishings, personal care, listening and talking, activities and program structure. In order to qualify for an overall 3 Star rating, a facility has to score a 5 or higher, out of a possible 7, in the program quality assessment. Four classrooms were evaluated on such criteria at each Early Learning Center, and both Centers scored well above 6 on their overall rating. In addition to the 3 Star rating, our Early Learning Center-Downtown recently received its accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children, which is the world’s largest organization working on behalf of young children. In Chattanooga, only four other centers have this accreditation. “The staff works hard each day to provide the highest quality program possible. I am proud that they are able to be recognized by professionals in the field of early childhood and rewarded for their efforts.” -Gayle Coleman, Director of the Early Learning Center-Downtown “…it [the annual Stars evaluation] keeps you in a constant state of growth, and that’s what we want. We want to grow and to have the services for kids and families to be at an excellent state. And that’s what we have. I’m proud of our center and staff who worked so hard to get ready; it’s well worth the hard work.” -Sheila Garner, Director of the Early Learning Center-East Brainerd Learn more about the Tennessee Star-Quality Child Care program. |
