07/09/12 - The Institute hosts inaugural Call-N-4-Kids Radiothon with support of 13 stations
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Siskin Children’s Institute hosts inaugural Call-N-4-Kids Radiothon CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – On Saturday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., 13 local radio stations will blanket the region’s airwaves with Siskin Children’s Institute’s message of hope and help for children with special needs. The Institute’s inaugural Call-N-4-Kids Radiothon is an unprecedented event in Chattanooga for which four major regional communication companies are showing their united support. Radio personalities from Bahakel Communications, Brewer Media Group, Clear Channel Media and Cumulus Media will interview Institute families, build community awareness about the Institute’s programs and services, and ask listeners to call in for kids by making a monetary donation. “There is no greater investment in our future than that in our kids,” said Gator Harrison, regional programming manager for Clear Channel Media. “And the fact that every radio station in Chattanooga is coming together to help Siskin Children’s Institute speaks to the importance and need. Our hope is that every one of our listeners will Call N 4 the Kids and this cause.” “Cumulus Radio is proud to play a role in the 2012 Call-N-4-Kids radiothon,” said Chuck Wilkins, market manager for Cumulus Chattanooga. “Siskin Children’s Institute performs a wonderful service for children with special needs and early childhood development and is a real asset to the Chattanooga area.” Institute volunteers will staff a phone bank located at the Institute, accepting pledges of support. The pledge line is 423.648-1SCI (1724). “It’s encouraging to have the support of so many local radio stations, especially as a first-time event,” said Jerry Jensen, president and CEO of the Institute. “We are hopeful that through Call-N-4-Kids our message will be shared with people from across the region, and if there is a need, people will know that we are here to help.” The Institute hopes to raise $50,000 through this event. All money raised through Call-N-4-Kids directly supports the children and families served by the Institute. For information on Call-N-4-Kids, visit www.siskin.org/calln4kids. |
