05/21/09 - Seminar teaches how to stop and prevent children’s tantrums
Date: May 21, 2009 CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Need help preventing or stopping your child’s tantrums? Want to understand the reason behind his or her meltdowns? Siskin Children’s Institute is sponsoring a one-day intensive seminar June 24 to help parents, educators and therapists address young children’s challenging behaviors. The seminar will be led by the Institute’s research director, Robin McWilliam, Ph.D., one of the leading experts on early intervention and early childhood education. “It’s helpful for parents and teachers to hear from an expert who can help you understand what your child is experiencing during a tantrum,” said Tracey Carisch, director of the Siskin Outreach and Resource Center. “Dr. McWilliam will tell you how best to address it and how not to address it.” Participants will learn how to implement natural behavior strategies at home, in the community and in the classroom to promote positive behavior and engagement in young children.
