06/04/09 - Boyz II Men to headline StarNight 2009 benefiting Institute
Date: June 4, 2009 Boyz II Men to headline StarNight 2009 benefiting Siskin Children’s Institute CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Boyz II Men, a Grammy-award winning, chart-topping R&B group, will headline this year’s StarNight fundraiser for Siskin Children’s Institute. The group performs Saturday, August 29, at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Proceeds from the event, now in its 46th year, benefit the children with special needs and their families who are served by the Institute. Based on sales, Boyz II Men is one of the most successful R&B groups of all time, having recorded five #1 pop hits between 1992 and 1997. They have since topped sales of 25 million records. Three of their #1 hits, “End of the Road,” “I’ll Make Love to You,” and “One Sweet Day” (a duet with Mariah Carey), set and broke records for the longest period of time a single remained at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. StarNight 2009 marks a year of major expansion for the Institute. Since last year’s event, the Institute has opened its second early learning center, launched a research center with three doctoral-level researchers and is preparing to open a developmental behavioral pediatric center in partnership with T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital. This year’s StarNight includes a cocktail reception, formal dinner and up-close performance by Boyz II Men, as well as an after-party DJ for dancing. The evening begins at 6 p.m. Guests can attend the entire black-tie gala, including the cocktail reception, dinner and musical performances with dancing, for $250 per person. Tables of eight range from $2,000 to $4,000. The Star Attraction option, offered at $100 per person, allows guests to arrive at 8:30 p.m. to enjoy Boyz II Men and the after party.
