2010-2011 Board of Directors

Chair: Ward Petty

Mr. Petty is a Managing Director-Investments at Wells Fargo Advisors office here in Chattanooga. He oversees more than $200 million in client assets and is a perennial member of the firm’s Chairman’s Council, which is based on professionalism and production. Last year, he was honored with the Leadership Fundraiser of the Year Award by the Association of Fundraising Professionals at the National Philanthropy Day Awards luncheon.

 

Vice Chair: F. Scott LeRoy, Esq.

Mr. LeRoy is an attorney with Evans LeRoy & Hackett, PLLC, in Chattanooga.

Secretary:  Edna E. Varner

Mrs. Varner is a Senior Program Consultant for the Public Education Foundation.

Treasurer: Tom White

Mr. White is the senior vice president of investor relations for Unum Group. His current board positions include United Way, the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga. He previously was a member of the Institute's board as well as the boards for the Urban League and the Partnership for Families, Children and Adults.

Immediate Past Chair: David I. Binder, CPA, MBA

Mr. Binder is the Assistant Vice President of Finance at Siskin Steel & Supply Company. He is a Chattanooga Theatre Centre board member and a committee member of the Chattanooga Jewish Federation.

Andrew Berke

Mr. Berke is an attorney for Berke, Berke & Berke Associates, as well as a member of the Tennessee Senate.

Alexis Bogo

Mrs. Bogo is the executive director of Hamico Foundation, a charitable organization affiliated with Chattem, Inc. Bogo currently serves on the boards for Memorial Health Care System Foundation, Chattanooga Theatre Center and Creative Discovery Museum. She previously held board positions for the Alexian Brothers Foundation, the Hamilton County Humane Educational Society and the Children's Home/Chambliss Shelter.

Patsy Hazlewood

Mrs. Hazlewood is a retired Regional Vice President of AT&T.

Craig Holley

Mr. Holley is Chairman, President and CEO of CapitalMark Bank & Trust. He serves on the board and executive committee of the United Way of Greater Chattanooga and the board of directors of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Community Research Council, and is on the Board of Trustees for Girls Preparatory School. He is a member of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Business Advisory Board.

Dr. Kathleen Hunt

Dr. Hunt is a pediatrician with University Pediatrics and practices at T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital in Chattanooga.

Roy Keith

Dr. Keith is a former president of Morehouse College and past chairman and CEO of Carson Products Company, a publicly traded company specializing in personal care products. He most recently served as managing director of Almanac Capital Management.  Prior to Almanac, Dr. Keith was a partner with Stonington Partners, a private equity fund. Dr. Keith is a past member of the board of directors of Baylor School, the Hunter Museum of American Art, the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra and the Chattanooga Zoo. 

Carla Morgan

Mrs. Morgan is the co-owner and buyer for 2nds in Building Materials, Inc., which operates eight Southeastern Salvage Home Emporium locations. She serves on the boards of the Chattanooga Theatre Center and the McKamey Animal Care and Adoption Center.


Susan O'Hare

Ms. O'Hare is a senior vice president with the executive total compensation practice at Integrated Healthcare Strategies. She has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Ms. O'Hare has an extensive background in pediatrics, highlighted by more than 10 years as the CEO of a children's hospital and in physician practice management in a multi-specialty and academic sub-specialty environment. 

Larry Parks

Mr. Parks is the President of T. U. Parks Construction Company. He serves on several boards and committes for organizations including the Board of Trustees for the Tri-State Carpenters Fringe Benefit funds, CompTrust AGC Tennessee, and AGC of America. Larry is also a member of the Rotary Club of Chattanooga.

Mervin Pregulman

Mr. Pregulman is a retired businessman and a past Chair of the Mose and Garrison Siskin Memorial Foundation.

Robert Siskin

Mr. Siskin is the former Executive Vice President of Siskin Steel & Supply Company. His community involvement includes roles as Past President of the Bnai Zion Synagogue, former Chair of the Federation's Community Relations Committee, Board member of the Public Education Foundation, and Secretary of the Chattanooga Area Urban League.


Robert Snetman

Mr. Snetman is the senior director of peripheral property for CBL & Associates Properties, Inc., a publicly traded retail real estate investment trust. He serves Siskin Children’s Institute as chairman of the board of directors’ Development Committee.  In addition, Mr. Snetman is chairman of the board of the Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga.


Sue Anne Wells, Ph.D.

Dr. Wells serves in various volunteer leadership roles throughout the community. Most notably, she is the chairwoman of the board of directors of the Young Women's Leadership Academy Foundation in Chattanooga. She received her Ph.D. in French Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has taught French at various schools and universities throughout the South.

 

Bill Wilder

Mr. Wilder has more than 35 years of experience in the insurance industry. He has served previously as CEO of Huffaker and Trimble until the Chattanooga insurer was acquired by BB&T in 2005. He is now the agency manger and vice president. He is a member of Rotary Club and is a deacon at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church.

 

JoAnn Yates

Mrs. Yates has been involved for many years in diverse areas of the community, including education, children and families, support of arts and community institutions, service to her church and appointed service at the state and national levels. Mrs. Yates has served on dozens of boards over the years, and in 2006 she was presented the American Lung Association of Tennessee Women of Distinction Award for her philanthropy.

Claire Siskin Binder

Mrs. Binder is and has been an active community member, serving on past boards of the Chattanooga Symphony Opera Association and of the B"Nai Zion Synagogue. She is also Past President of the Jewish Community Federation of Greater Chattanooga and is a board member for Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation.

A.V. "Terry" Blunt

Mr. Blunt is Vice President of Human Resources for Olan Mills, Inc. He serves as an Elder at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church.

Peter T. Cooper

Mr. Cooper is the President of the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, Inc. He has also served on the boards of the Night to Remember and the U C Foundation.

Carl Henderson

Mr. Henderson is a certified public accountant with Henderson, Hutcherson & McCullough, PLLC. A past managing partner for HHM, he is a former revenue agent for the Internal Revenue Service and often serves as an expert witness before the U.S. Tax Court and U.S. Bankruptcy Court. He is the past chairman of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, as well as a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is the former chairman and board treasurer of the Siskin Foundation. 

Sam E. Miles, Jr.

Mr. Miles is a retired Vice President of UnumProvident, which is now known as Unum.

C.A. "Red" Parks

Mr. Parks is the Chairman of Chattanooga-based T.U. Parks Construction Company, which was founded by his father in 1944.

Ross I. Schram, III

Schram is a lawyer and shareholder of Baker Donelson Bearman Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC. He currently serves as an elder at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church in addition to being vice chairman of the board for the Volunteer Community School. Schram is a past chairman of the Institute's board.
