2016-2017 annual Evaluation Report

Measuring Our Impact, Planning for the Future



Thanks to incredible community support, dedicated staff members and committed volunteers, Siskin Children’s Institute continues to provide high quality programs and services for children with special needs and their families. In fiscal year 2016-2017, the Institute served 2,656 families through the Early Learning Center, Home & Community- Based Early Intervention, Center for Developmental Pediatrics, and Outreach Services.

As our programs have grown, so has the interest in professional development training for similar organizations in the region.

Last year, our Early Learning Center trained and coached Murfreesboro and Manchester City Schools as they adopted many of the methods used in our preschool learning environment with the goal of creating inclusive classrooms. Our Home & Community-Based Early Intervention program led workshops on our model for home visits at regional conferences as well as for other organizations. In addition, as a teaching facility, the Center for Developmental Pediatrics served as a training center for more than 36 medical students and 8 Medical Residents in developmental pediatric and therapeutic disciplines and opened a new Developmental Family Therapy Center.  Our enrichment efforts for children continued with a special Guitar class hosted by the Songbirds Foundation, our Santa Cares event in conjunction with Hamilton Place Mall, and our sensory friendly concert series program in partnership with the Chattanooga Symphony. These opportunities allow children with special needs and their families to enjoy experiences they might not have otherwise. We look forward to more events next year so that these children can experience all that the community has to offer.

Great accomplishments have been made by many children this past year and many others have just begun their journey. We hope that by reading this report you’ll be inspired to join us in our efforts and help make a difference in the life of a child with special needs.
