What is ABA Therapy?

ABA therapy is an evidence-based treatment for individuals with autism and other developmental disorders. It involves breaking down complex behaviors into smaller, more manageable steps, and using positive reinforcement to increase desired behaviors and decrease challenging behaviors. Your ABA therapist may work on skills and behaviors such as language and communication, social skills, self-help skills, and academic skills.

ABA practitioners work with children in their natural environment (e.g., home or school) for 20-30 hours per week, which research shows leads to the most effective outcomes. Our ABA therapy program is ideal for children ages 18 months to 12 years old and primarily takes place in the home.

In addition to local ABA therapy, Ringgold families don’t have to travel far to access Siskin’s services out of our Chattanooga office. Siskin’s Center for Developmental Pediatrics offers autism evaluation and diagnosis for children 18 months to 5 years old. Children can often be seen for an autism diagnosis within 1-2 months by a Siskin provider instead of the 6-12 months that many families experience. Siskin also offers feeding, occupational, and speech therapy to help your child succeed. Ask your pediatrician for a referral to Siskin Children’s Institute.
